This rare vintage circa 1940 SS Delbrasil ship baseball pennant represents a distinctive piece of maritime heritage from the Delta Line, officially known as the Mississippi Shipping Company. Constructed from vibrant green felt, the triangular flag showcases sharp, golden-yellow screened graphics, featuring the signature Delta Line triangular emblem encircled by bold text identifying both the ocean liner and its passenger or crew sports team. Constructed at the Bethlehem Steel shipyards and launched in 1939, the SS Delbrasil was an important vessel that carried passengers, mail, and coffee cargo on trade routes operating out of the Port of New Orleans to South America. Following the onset of World War II, the liner was requisitioned by the United States government and converted into the Navy troop transport ship USS George F. Elliott, earning battle stars for service in the Pacific Theater. The pennant retains its classical vintage construction, complete with a reinforced stitched hoist edge and its original dual felt tying tassels. This historic artifact serves as a rare crossover collectible, appealing simultaneously to enthusiasts of mid-century maritime passenger liners, Gulf Coast shipping history, and early corporate shipboard sports memorabilia.
