Handcrafted by acclaimed Tucson artist Joyce McCollough, this vintage 1970’s studio art pottery sculpture captures the earthy, organic charm of classic Southwestern studio stoneware. Formed in the likeness of a weathered log base adorned with hand-sculpted mushroom clusters, the piece serves double duty as a functional flower frog, featuring multiple built-in stem apertures thoughtfully integrated along its top surface. The hand-thrown stoneware body showcases McCollough’s signature technique, beautifully contrasting raw, unglazed clay textures along the lower base with soft, dripped ivory glazes over the mushroom caps and upper log surface. Bearing her hand-incised studio mark on the underside, this authentic piece of Arizona ceramic history offers outstanding display quality for collectors of 1970’s studio pottery, vintage mushroom and fungi decor, or handcrafted artisan floral arrangers.
