This exceptional late-19th-century German Westerwald salt-glazed stoneware vase features a striking Renaissance Revival design struck directly from the historic Simon Peter Gerz factory mold line (Model No. 747). The body is masterfully decorated in vibrant, deep cobalt blue and accented with targeted manganese brown glazes over a traditional gray stoneware base. The elaborate relief artwork showcases classic European Historismus motifs, highlighting highly detailed "Green Man" foliate masks, swirling scrolling floral vines, and classical cherub iconography. This specific piece represents a historically significant commercial contract batch, bearing the rare impressed "B.H.A." retailer mark alongside the nested double-triangle factory control mark. These specific stamps indicate the piece was custom-commissioned directly from the Grenzhausen pottery floor by the elite Victorian import firm Bawo & Dotter, making it a scarcer export variant highly prized for its documented transatlantic provenance.
