Bring home a striking piece of mid-century Canadian folk art with this vintage 1970’s sculpture by The Wolf Sculptures, founded by Edmund Wolf, handcrafted in Canada and bearing the distinctive "WE" artist monogram alongside its original gold foil label on the felted base. The dynamic, multi-faceted composition depicts an intricate narrative scene capturing the raw drama of the Arctic wilderness, expertly portraying an indigenous hunter clad in a traditional hooded parka locked in a powerful, intimate encounter with a fierce, textured polar bear with bared teeth. Rendered in a striking Inuit style, this substantial work is expertly cast using a specialized composite blend designed to emulate the look and feel of authentic soapstone, capturing every fine textural detail from the deep hand-carved directional chisel marks across the stone-like finish to the intricate stitching lines around the hood and cuffs. Displaying a rich, dark green-black patina with subtle natural tonal variations that shift in the light, this captivating sculpture honors classic Inuit artistic traditions and makes an exceptional statement piece for collectors of heritage folk art.
