This authentic mid-century Scandinavian art glass sculpture depicts a mermaid poised gracefully atop an ice-textured clear glass ocean pedestal, designed by renowned Swedish glass artist Paul Kedelv (1917–1990) for Reijmyre Glasbruk (Sweden) during the 1960’s. Masterfully crafted with a dual-finish design, the piece pairs a satin-frosted, semi-translucent body with a deeply molded, wave-textured clear base that brilliantly catches and diffuses light. Detailed with stylized facial features, a molded beaded necklace, flowing hair, and a wrapped tail extending down the back of the base, this elegant figurine embodies classic Mid Century Modern (MCM) Nordic design with strong Art Deco influence. The underside features a hollow molded interior with raw pontil and mold marks along the rim edge.
